WAKE UP CALL!! 5 Vegetables a day NOT Vegetables and Fruits.

Vegetables should be the focus of your diet. Together with some grains and roots.

Fruits should be eaten alone and low quantity. Pasta, rice and etc.. as well should be eaten lower quantities.

An example is fruitarians:

Regardless of which approach is taken, I have not met a single strict fruitarian of more than two years who didn’t have significant health challenges. The most common challenges are dental decay, osteoporosis, wasting of muscle tissue, inability to maintain a healthy weight, chronic fatigue, skin problems, thinning hair, weakening nails, and excessive irritability.

Another problem with a high fruit diet is that it can lead to problems involving the hormones that regulate your blood sugar; insulin, glucagon, and growth hormone. A chronic imbalance of these hormones is a sure way to develop cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

The encouraging news is that when you eat fruits in moderation, they can contribute to excellent overall health and fitness. Here is a list of some of my favorite, healthy fruits:

1. Berries – Be sure that they are wild or organic, as commercially grown berries are heavily coated with pesticides. Berries tend to put less stress on your blood sugar – regulating mechanisms than other fruits, and provide loads of fiber, vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals which protect you against disease. Frozen wild blueberries are available year-round in almost any grocery store.

2. Avocado – An excellent source of raw fat, which is essential for healing and maintenance of health. Avocados are also an excellent source of fiber, vitamins, and minerals. The fatty acids found in avocados provide excellent fuel for energy. A good avocado has a rich, creamy texture and a rich green color towards the outer part of its flesh.

3. Figs – If you haven’t tried a fresh black or green fig, you are missing out on one of the most minerally dense fruits there is. Fresh figs are superior to dried figs, as the drying process creates an unhealthy concentration of the natural sugars in figs. If you are going to eat dried figs, strive to eat only a few per day. Figs are particularly high in potassium, calcium, and iron.

4. Pomegranates – If you could choose only one fruit to get into your blood and provide super protection against free radical damage and chronic disease, pomegranates would be a great choice. By weight, they have one of the highest concentrations of antioxidants among all fruits.

5. Apples – Like all of the fruits listed above, apples are high in fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. From a practical viewpoint, apples are one of the most affordable healthy fruits to eat on a regular basis.

If you want to eat super sweet fruits like bananas, grapes, and ripe persimmons, you may want to eat them with some dark green lettuce, celery sticks, and avocado, as the mineral density in these green foods will help to dampen the unhealthy effect that super sweet fruits have on your insulin levels.

I recommend staying away from fruit juices most of the time, as their concentrated sugars contribute to health problems related to too much insulin production.

Deepak Chopra and Meditation

I just started doing this meditation exercises by Deepak Chopra. They are 7 days of meditation focusing in THe Seven Laws of Sucess:

The first one today was *True Potentiality*

Meaning …be silent…meditation…nature…non-judgment

In the end of meditation you can repeat to yourself: With this law of potentiality I can create anything, anytime and anywhere.

The other laws are:

*The Law of giving

*The Law of “Karma” or Cause and Effect

*The Law of Least Effort

*The Law of Intention and Desire

*The Law of Detachment

*The Law of “Drarma” or Purpose in Life (the most important one)

I wish you all a Happy valentines Day and my advice is to meditate, be grateful and to have purpose in this LIfe. Nothing feels or taste better than to know why you are alive.

10 Weight Lost Tips

This I learned in my health coach course, that I think is the best decision I ever took in my life. Health coaching is what I am most passionate about in my life besides modeling and gives me a rush of happiness, higher than anything else ever could.

1- DRINK WATER: Hunger can be confused with dehydration. Always drink a cup of water when hungry just to be sure you are not actually thirsty.

2-EAT CARBS: REAL CARBS! Meaning complex carbohydrates, not those silly cereal stuff. Eat Fruits and vegetables(yes they are carbs) and eat whole grain carbs such as brown rice, quino, ezekiel..(you can find bread option of these as well).

3-CHOOSE HEALTHY FATS: Good fats promote so may health benefits as protection against heart disease, cancer, alzheimer’s and depression, and reduces blood pressure and lowers cholesterol. Choose sources as wild fish, avocados and extra virgin oil.

4-EMPHASIZE LEAN PROTEIN: Choose animal sources such as grass-fed beef, free-range chicken and ofcourse everything organic is always better such as organic yogurt, cage-free eggs, and for vegans tofu, tempeh and peanut butter.

5-EAT BREAKFAST: I know I sound like your mother, but breakfast gives your metabolism a jump start and you will be in better control of your cravings and the calories of the day won’t pack up at dinner when we should be eating less. But if you’re not ready for breakfast early in the morning, listen to your body and eat when feels best for you.

6-EAT MORE FREQUENTLY: Try to keep track of your meal choices and balance your calories. Be aware of the density of foods, always choose vegetables and plant-based foods. This way you can eat more and weight less.

7-EXERCISE YOUR BODY AND MIND: Exercise decreases body weight, smaller waist circumference, lower resting heart rate and blood pressure. And my favorite BOOSTS YOUR MOOD. Strive to do 30 min a day of some sort of exercise or walking. Try these:

-Get off the subway or bus one stop earlier. Or Walk to a place near you such as supermarket etc..

-Take the stairs instead of the elevator.

-Go on nightly jogs or walks wit your dog. Or even playing with your children in the park or even try gardening.

8-CATCH SOME ZZZZ”s: That’s the one I need to get better myself at. Research says those who sleep 5 hours or less weight five pounds more than those who sleep at least 7 hours of shut eye per night. So sleep as much as you can during the night, 7 to 8 hrs.

9-LEARN TO COOK: Allows you to control your portions and quality of ingredients, and cuts your intake of sodium, fat and calories. Besides bringing you close to those you love. I actually recently learned I love cooking my food.

10-KEEP TRACK OF WHAT YOU EAT: This for me is the most important one. Be a food detective, see your body’s reaction to food and if possible weight yourself as well every morning. Check labels, and avoid ingredients such as sugar, trans fats, high-fructose corn syrup and long “chemical names” that are hard to pronounce. This is my secret always to keep skinny, nothing is worse to getting to the end of the day and not remembering what you had for breakfast.

Have a great day guys and keep in my mind you are more powerful than you think you are,

Meditation and the law of attraction

I’ve been in this search for so long, and I guess things are much more simple than we feel they are.

I started meditating about 5 years ago, on and off. The times I really do it perfectly in the morning I feel a flow of energy and happiness when I stop it lasts for a while until it eventually ends. So I made a decision in 2014 to make it a habit, as strong as taking a shower and this habit brought me to the best conclusions and decisions.

Benefits of meditation and focusing in what you truly WANT TO FEEL INSTEAD OF FOCUSING IN WHAT YOU DONT WANT :

1- Increased immunity

2-Emotional balance

3-Increased fertility

4-Relieves irritable bowel syndrome

5- Lowers blood pressure

“Not sure when or how but what I truly want and need will arrive in my life more certain than the breath that I breath.”
